Had a call from Kelly and Karl who run The Waterfront. It’s a very vibrant and funky place to eat and drink on the sea front in fair Porthcawl. They were looking for Christmas presents (hey, it’s that time of the year again !) for the grand parents of their beautiful little daughter Layla. This is the sort of shoot I just love. So took the white background, the speed lights and the trusty D200 to their flat and shot away. Firstly, Layla, what a cutie, and such a happy baby and with a tad of coaxing from mum, dad and yours truly we had some stunning pictures in the bag in probably less than hour. Now I don’t want to spoil any surprises, so here’s one of the result of what was a very enjoyable little shoot.

Well look-ee here. A new site for the new spruced up business. Now my darling wife Jo has got off the fence in dramatic fashion with her work on Peter and Clair’s wedding I decided to get rid of the old cobwebs and begin a fresh. I will continue to deal with the commercial side of Play-Light’s work, but now Jo and I will be working together on the weddings which is great. For our new wedding customers this means two photographers for the price of one, but also gives both of us a little latitude and time to capture some more intimate and candid shot. See some of Jo’s great captures below:

I’ve been looking for a back up and more general use camera for my work and after wading through all the options have chosen the Nikon P7000. It small enough, but has all the manual features I require for my work, has an excellent zoom range, but best of all works in conjunction with Nikon’s creative light system (CLS). Which means by fitting a second Cactus V4 wireless transmitter and setting it the same frequency if my main body, I can swap between cameras without having to change light set ups. I will be giving the camera a full Play-Light review, once it arrives and I’ve had time to really get to grips with it. In the mean time here’s a Which report from when the camera came out last September.
