Turned out nice again

I was asked to do a shoot for Karen Tindall. Her father’s 70th birthday is coming up and they were all staying at The Trecco Bay Holiday Park. I opted for the beach it’s self and we all crossed our fingers as for the weather. Saturday was bright, but drizzly and cloudy; woke up Sunday morning to a dramatic sky with just a hint of … blue.

Initially I thought I was shooting 5 adults and 3 children, however, due to crossed wires, it turned in to 10 adults and 5 children; the more the merrier I say, especially when you have an entire beach to play with!

With currently only the two SB800s to play with and such a large group I needed to set ambient exposure correctly, rather than under by two to create more dramatic sky and clouds, so all the sky in the final images has been tweaked post production in Lightroom3 and Photoshop cs2.

I’m very pleased with the final look of the images, particularly the running to camera shots. Great expressions, punchy and dynamic. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Chris and Andrea’s wedding went without a hitch, though the weather looked so so for some of the morning, that soon changed for the better. In a short four hour package, we packed in some nice images. We went to Rest Bay after the ceremony and group shots and did some more posed work which I’m very pleased with. I used a circular polarizer to help bring contrast to the subject, but the sky still needed tweaking in Light-room 3 to give nice rich tones. I know they loved the results, I hope you do too. Please leave some comments.

Wendy and David Robertson’s Wedding, Worthing 2/5/2010

What a great day at Field Place, Worthing; despite the inclement weather. Wendy looked radiant and confident before the march down the aisle, after which she admitted to butterflies and I looked like the Cheshire cat giving her away. Many thanks to Jo for capturing that part of the ceremony and to Chris Dunn for standing in to capture the pictures of the signing.

From a photographic perspective the day was very challenging. The interiors, especially the barn, where the ceiling were extremely high, were pretty dark. I am very pleased with most of the capture, especially the slow shutter speed/flash work on the disco floor. Some of the pictures of the all the kids dancing are amongst my favourites and will be up on the web site within the next two weeks.

I’m currently in the process of putting together the DVD of the big day, so I’m sure that you’ll get to see some of the images soon.
